Mr. Jacobi, the firm’s lead environmental attorney, began practicing with the United States Environmental Protection Agency in 1976. In his capacity as Enforcement Division counsel in both the Water and Hazardous Waste Sections, Mr. Jacobi practiced for EPA through 1979. At that time, he became senior environmental attorney for Stauffer Chemical Company where he was responsible for its major environmental matters including several nationally known Superfund cases. Mr. Jacobi remained with the company until 1987 when he organized the existing firm.
Mr. Jacobi graduated from Hofstra University, magna cum laude, in 1972 before attending Hofstra Law School from which he graduated in 1975. During his tenure with Stauffer Chemical Company, he continued his educational pursuits and in 1984 obtained his MBA from Sacred Heart University. He is the former chairman of the Milford Inland Wetlands Agency and a former elected member of the Milford Board of Aldermen. He is a past Chairman of both the Environmental Committee of the Corporate Bar Association and the New Haven County Bar Association – Environmental Committee. Mr. Jacobi also served on the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection Agency’s Committee to enact Transfer Act Legislation and the DEEP Cleanup Standards Development Task Force.
Mr. Jacobi has lectured before the International Research Institute on environmental insurance coverage and before numerous bar association groups on environmental issues ranging from managing CERCLA multi-party cases to Transfer Act Compliance in Complex Real Estate Transactions. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and Who’s Who Among Outstanding Americans.
