Dave Sherry joined the firm after serving as an attorney for the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority within the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. He practices in environmental, maritime, wetlands, and land use law. Prior to working for the State of Connecticut, Dave served 21 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as a Commander. In the Coast Guard he gained extensive experience interacting with state and federal regulatory agencies as both an attorney and environmental response expert. Dave also oversaw waterfront facility, bridge, and vessel safety and security regulatory projects in navigable waters as a port safety and security officer in the Coast Guard. Of note, he led vessel decontamination efforts on-site for the entire Deepwater Horizon response in 2010. He has substantial investigation and litigation experience attained through overseeing cases in criminal, civil, and administrative jurisdictions.
Dave graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a degree in Marine and Environmental Sciences. He graduated with a specialty in International Law from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts, and earned his Master of Laws degree in Military Law with a specialty in Administrative and Civil Law from the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2013. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.
